How was the book of "It's not summer without you" by Jenny Han?
In my personal opinion I can’t be considered as a person that likes to spend a lot of time reading but when a book interested me I can spend much of my time doing it. I like to read when I travel from one place to another and the travel is long, it makes me don’t feel boring during the time that takes the travel. Last year when I was in 8th grade my English teacher give us as a project to choose a book and I choose “The Summer I Turned Pretty” (the 1st book of the trilogy) because one friend recommended to me, so I decided to read it, but now Ms. Johnson (my actual English teacher) give us as a project to choose a book and make some writing during we where reading the book, so I think it was a good moment to start reading the second book because I really enjoy reading the first one. I think that is one of the best books I had read. In my opinion Jenny Han is an excellent writer. I like how she write with so many details that help you understand better but I also like how she use events from the past and put them in the story as flashbacks, that makes you feel part of the book and understand better how everything happens.
“It’s Not Summer Without You” is the second book of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” written by Jenny Han. The story mostly moves forward instead of jumping back and forth between the past and the present, which allows a nice flow. In the first book we can only read Belly’s point of view but in this book we can read Belly and Jeremiah’s points of views. Belly is used to counted the days until summer, until she get backs at Cousins Beach with Conrad and Jeremiah, but not this year, not after Susannah got sick again and dies. Everything that was right and good has fallen apart after Susannah death. Belly, Conrad and Jeremiah get affect with Susannah death but they would need to overcome Susannah death and face that she is not more with them. Belly wishing summer would never come but when summer is about to start she receive Jeremiah calls saying Conrad has disappeared. Belly knows that she need to help Jeremiah to take back home Conrad, so Belly and Jeremiah would need to go back at Cousins Beach where the three of them would return together, the way things used to be.
This book it is a great choose for girls between 12-17 years old, that like to read about love with some conflicts that our characters will need to face to have a happy end. In this book we see how each character deals with devastating events (love and loss), but it still manages to retain its summery feel. Belly is in a hard situation between two brothers: Conrad and Jeremiah that get in love with the time and the two of them will do everything that is in their hands to be with Belly but at the end she will only choose one of them and the other will need to accept her decision. It is an excellent book that deserve to be read.
